How does the dimming of the Bellboy work?

Bellboy contains a stepless dimmer. The button on top of the lampshade contains a touch switch. By Gently touching it the lamp can be turned on/off and the brightness can be regulated as well by press/holding the switch. The brightness will start looping up and down and will fix into position once the switch is released.

My Bellboy doesn't dim like described above?
Press/Holding the tap switch on top of the shade (while the lamps is turned off) for over 10 second allow you to switch from stepless dimming to a 3 step dimmer, and reversed. Switching programme will be indicated by a blinking Bellboy for several seconds.
